Research Interest:

My research interest lies in Large-Scale Data Engineering Applications. In particular, I am interested in:

  • Data Sharing & Integration

  • Query Processing and Optimization

  • Semantic Heterogeneity

  • Ontology Engineering and Management

  • Semantic- based Information Retrieval

  • Digital Repositories

Academic Background:

PhD (Computer Sciences) in 1998-2002 from School of Computing, the University of Leeds, Leeds, UK. The thesis title was ‘The Optimisation of Continual Queries'. Key feature includes:

  • Design of a new architecture for a scalable continual queries system in the Internet environment

  • Design of a scalable and dynamic grouping technique to optimise the evaluation of continual queries

  • Design of a simple model for differential evaluation of continual queries to bypass a complete evaluation after initial evaluation.Development of a technique for differential evaluation of grouped continual queries

Post Doctorate in 2005-2006 from Institute de Recherche en Informatique de Toulouse (IRIT), UMR 5505 CNRS, Universite Paul Sabatier (UPS), Toulouse, France.

  • IZAZ-I-SABQAT Award conferred by the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for obtaining highest percentage marks in the MSc Computer Sciences Examination for the year 1994 in the Province of NWFP Pakistan
